Valentine’s Day Recipe You Can Make In Minutes

Whoever told you that you needed to spend hours making a valentine’s day meal hasn’t come across our recipe just yet. Surprise your loved one with this seemingly high-effort dish this coming Valentine’s Day!

What Ingredients Do You Need?

  • Wild-caught salmon fillets (4 pieces or around 250 grams each)
  • Paprika (1/2 tablespoon)
  • Butter (2 tablespoons)
  • Finely chopped garlic (4 cloves)
  • Manuka honey (4 tablespoons)
  • Water (1 tablespoon)
  • Soy sauce (2 tablespoons)
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice (1 piece)
  • Lemon wedges to use as garnish

How to Prepare

Step 1: Arrange the oven-shelf so that it’s placed in the middle part of your oven, then preheat it to around 260C to 290C or to broil/grill settings. It depends on what kind of setting/s your oven has.

Step 2: Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper, as well as paprika. Set it aside for later use.

Step 3: In a small pan or fillet, heat over medium-high heat the butter until it melts, then, sauté the garlic until it gives off a nice fragrance. This should take around a minute or so.

Step 4: Add the water, soy sauce, and Manuka honey into the mixture and let it combine.

Step 5: Stir in the lemon juice into the mixture.

Step 6: Add the seasoned salmon steaks one by one or all of them at once if your skillet can fit all of them with proper spacing. Make sure that you cook each fillet properly until it turns golden. Do it skin-side down if you prefer to leave the skin on. Don’t forget to occasionally baste it with the pan juices to really seal in the flavor. You can also season it further with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 7: Add in the lemon wedges all over the salmon. This helps add a stronger and more powerful lemony taste to the dish that really completes the flavor.

Step 8: Baste the salmon fillets one more time before transferring it to the lined pan and letting it cook inside the oven until you see some nice charring on top of the salmon. This should take no more than 5 to 6 minutes at most.

Step 9: Once done, take the dish out of the oven, let it cool for a bit, and then drizzle it with the sauce. You can also add in some freshly-squeezed lemon juice.

Step 10: Serve it over your preferred steamed vegetables or with a salad or over warm rice.
